Things to Know Before You Transfer
60-Day Lock Period
Domains registered or transferred within the last 60 days cannot be transferred due to ICANN policy. Please wait until the lock period expires.
Unlock Your Domain
Make sure your domain is unlocked at your current registrar. A locked domain will cause the transfer to be rejected automatically.
EPP/Authorization Code
You will need your EPP (Authorization) code from your current registrar. This code verifies that you own the domain and authorize the transfer.
Disable WHOIS Privacy
Temporarily disable WHOIS privacy protection at your current registrar. This is required for the transfer approval email to reach you.
Valid Contact Email
Ensure the admin contact email on your domain's WHOIS record is valid and accessible. Transfer approval will be sent to this email address.
Domain Must Not Be Expired
Your domain must be active and not in the redemption period. Expired domains in redemption cannot be transferred and must be renewed first.
Domain Transfer Questions
Most domain transfers complete within 5-7 days. Some registrars process transfers faster. During this period, your website continues to work normally with zero downtime.
An EPP (Extensible Provisioning Protocol) code, also called an Auth code or transfer key, is a unique security code that authorizes the transfer of your domain. You can get it from your current registrar's control panel.
No. Your website, email, and all DNS records continue working perfectly throughout the entire transfer process. There is absolutely zero downtime.
Yes. Before starting a transfer, you need to unlock your domain at your current registrar and disable WHOIS privacy temporarily. You can re-enable privacy after the transfer completes.
ICANN requires that a domain be registered for at least 60 days before it can be transferred. If you recently registered or transferred your domain, you may need to wait.
Your existing registration time is preserved and a full year is added on top. For example, if you have 6 months left, after transfer you'll have 1 year and 6 months.
